This 3-day safari offers an unforgettable encounter with one of Uganda’s most iconic and intelligent creatures — the chimpanzee — inside the dense, biodiverse Kibale Forest National Park. Known as the “Primate Capital of the World,” Kibale is home to 13 species of primates, including chimpanzees, red colobus, and L’Hoest’s monkeys, along with forest elephants and over 370 species of birds.

In addition to chimpanzee tracking, this tour also includes the scenic Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, rich in birds and local culture, and time to relax in eco-lodges nestled in the rainforest. Perfect for nature lovers, birders, and wildlife photographers, this short safari immerses you into the unspoiled tropical forests of western Uganda.

Day 01 :

Kampala – Transfer to Kibale National Park

Depart Kampala early morning for Kibale (approx. 5–6 hours drive)
Travel via Mubende and Fort Portal with scenic views of tea plantations and crater lakes
Stop for lunch in Fort Portal town
Continue to your lodge near or inside Kibale Forest
Optional: short crater lake walk or relax at the lodge

Day 02 :

Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Wetland Walk

Early breakfast, then report to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre by 7:30 AM
Attend briefing with UWA rangers
Enter the forest for chimpanzee tracking (usually 2–4 hours total)
- High chance of seeing chimps up-close, along with other primates and birds
Return to lodge for lunch and rest
Afternoon: Guided walk at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area with great birdlife and primates
Optional: cultural visit to local communities or traditional healer

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Same lodge as Day 1

Day 03 :

Transfer Back to Kampala / Entebbe

Breakfast at lodge
Optional: visit Tooro Palace in Fort Portal or tea estate tour (time permitting)
Start return journey to Kampala or Entebbe
Stop for lunch en route
Evening drop-off at hotel or airport
